Accompanist
Ben Norris
Ben Norris (b. 2001) is a freelance pianist, teacher, and composer based in Purley, South Croydon. He began learning the piano at the age of six, inspired by his father’s playing, and went on to complete Grades 1–8 before earning a Distinction in the ARSM diploma in 2019.
Ben graduated from Royal Holloway, University of London (2020–2024) with First Class Honours in Music, specialising in performance and composition with technology. His work explores the use of digital tools and software in composing for film, media, and recorded performance. He achieved the highest overall average in his cohort, earning both the Martin Holloway Award and the Final Year Prize. These accomplishments were especially meaningful following his recovery from osteosarcoma, which required life-saving surgery and treatment. Declared in remission in January 2022, Ben remains committed to raising awareness of the condition.
He is now pursuing a Master’s in Music at Royal Holloway as a Headley Trust Scholar, while also preparing for the FRSM diploma in piano performance. Alongside his studies, he runs a piano teaching practice currently with twelve students and performs quite regularly, including a recent recital at Ely Cathedral (September 2025).
